Short Biography:
Agnieszka Staśkiewicz is a PhD student at the Department of Bioorganic Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry, Wrocław University of Science and Technology in Poland. She conducts her doctoral dissertation as part of the BioTechNan project - the programme of interdisciplinary cross-institutional post-graduate studies KNOW in the field of Biotechnology and Nanotechnology co-financed by the EU. Agnieszka is carrying out interdisciplinary PhD studies in cooperation with the Faculty of Chemistry "Ugo Schiff" at the University of Florence in Italy under the supervision of prof. Anna Maria Papini (University of Florence) and prof. Rafał Latajka (Wrocław University of Science and Technology). Agnieszka's research work includes the design, solid-phase peptide synthesis, analysis of conformational preferences and studies on the biological activities of analogs of oxytocin. Recently, Agnieszka focused her attention on the study of the influence of the secondary structure, especially the helical motif, in MBP (Myelin Basic Protein) peptides for efficient IgM antibody recognition in Multiple Sclerosis.
