On World Intellectual Property Day, the University of Florence celebrates an achievement that reflects vision, continuity, and shared effort: over the past 12 months, 10 UniFi patents have been granted international recognition.

It is a collective milestone, born from the commitment of research groups working across different fields, expertise, and applications, yet united by the same ability to bring ideas developed in laboratories to formal recognition in major international contexts.

In the United States, the granted patents include the bioactive peptides developed by the team of Prof. Anna Maria Papini and Prof. Paolo Rovero, the smart electrical monitoring system by Prof. Francesco Grasso’s team, the nanosensor platforms by Prof. Gabriella Caminati’s team, life-saving technologies for biological sample collection by Prof. Gianluca Villa’s team, and mimetic inhibitors developed by Prof. Barbara Richichi’s team.

In Japan, recognition was granted for the mechanical coupling device between vehicles developed by Prof. Adriano Alessandrini’s team.

In Europe, patents were awarded for the air sanitation solution by Prof. Franco Fusi’s team, the gyroscopic oscillating driving simulator station by Prof. Giovanni Savino’s team, the anti-collision system by Prof. Francesco Saverio Cataliotti’s team, and life-saving therapies by Prof. Gianluca Villa’s team.

From American to Asian and European markets, these results confirm UniFi as a hub of innovation, capable of protecting knowledge, enhancing its value, and taking it beyond borders—transforming research into an asset that can generate real impact for society.
